Emilio Gregorius was born from a family of pure-blood wizards. The Gregorius family was renowned for having their family members work as an Auror, Dueler, Executioner, and Legislator. Thus, being born from such a family often puts a lot of pressure on Emilio who was considered to have no talents.
At the time after he was born, Emilio was considered as a child who brings bad omens due to his unnatural-colored eyes. There are rumors who said that his unnatural eye colors were caused by a curse that someone (most likely a wizard) put on his family and his birth is the sign that his family was indeed cursed. This very curse made Emilio couldn’t control his magic flow properly and he’s also able to see Thestrals without having to witness a death.
At the beginning of his education at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Emilio purchased his wands from Ollivander and was sorted into Hufflepuff house. Despite being quite antisocial, Emilio possessed a very kind and soft-hearted nature which is the reason why he was sorted at Hufflepuff house. He noticed the Thestrals used for Hogwarts carriage on his very first day of school.
“I feel like we have a lot in common, you see, as whatever they called a symbol of misfortune and omens of evil. Which is why I think I could understand you better than most humans.”
At the start of his academic year, he took interest in the herbology subject and often studied them himself at the library. He also took interest in studying a subject about other magical living beings (except humans) like Magi zoology. This very subject made him idolize a fellow Hufflepuff alumni wizard, Newton Scamander. He often read Scamander’s book; ‘*Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ *****during his free time.
In his fourth year at Hogwarts, Emilio was able to attend Yule Ball, one of the ceremonies held before the Triwizard Tournament. He refused to attend at first due to having a lot of people packed in there which he disliked, but later he was invited by Iorah Minestone who also became his ball partner. At first, he wore a mismatched outfit which made Iorah upset, then she helped him change his ball outfit into a better one. Iorah also managed to convince him to remove his glasses so she could see his eyes better in which Emilio responds in such a shy and upset tone.
“Come on Iorah…you know that I can't have people staring at my eyes, right? Especially at a ball like this…”
