Mary Baker, a young girl who lives in a small house in the city with her big brother, Theodore Baker. She has no parents, because they died a long time ago. So, Theodore is the one who has to work to pay for her school. Theodore works at a place filled with sweets and desserts, and that makes Mary love sweets, especially chocolate. Her parents used to be chocolatiers as well, which makes their love for chocolate and sweet runs down for the whole family. Before she lost them, she used to eat her parents’ homemade chocolate, and promised them that she would make the best chocolate dessert for her family. This promise led her to learn how to make chocolate desserts from Theodore.
As she grew throughout the year, her interest in chocolate and sweets gradually developed as well. She keeps on learning various skills from her brother, but lately Theodore was getting busy because he had 2 jobs and had to work full time. She felt lonely and also worried for his health, she doesn’t want him to overwork himself.
After she went back home from school, she found him lying on the ground. She panicked and tried to help him; it seemed like he was not in a good condition. After she brought him to his room, she asked him about what happened. With a soft smile, Theodore said to her that he was fine, and he was just a little bit tired and told her that all he needed was just a sleep. Mary listened to him and left him for a bit while wishing that his condition would soon get better. Couple of hours later, Mary decided to check on him and found out that his condition is getting worse. She decided to quickly call for an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
After waiting for a while, the doctor came with a result and told her that her brother’s condition is currently fine, but he needed to stay at the hospital for a week. Theodore refused to stay for a week, he was worried about Mary. He thought that Mary might still need someone to take care of her and not to mention worried about his hospital bills. After a short argument, Mary managed to convince him that she would be fine, and she told him that she had an idea of finding a part time place to earn money for both of them. Theodore was worried at first, but he reluctantly agreed.
Mary, as determined as ever, decided to find a part time place where students can join. She was thinking of starting to find a cafe first, because she already has the basic skill that she learned from Theodore. It took her several days until she found a cafe called “Chococafe” which is a cafe that also sells various types of chocolate. Intrigued, she enters the cafe and is surprised with how pretty the cafe looks on the inside, not to mention the atmosphere that reminds her of her family. Luckily, the cafe is also looking for a young part timer! There she decided to try her luck and admit herself for a part timer position. She hopes she could become a part of the cafe and help her brother.
The day that she waited for finally arrived. It was the chococafe admission result. After nervously looking out for the information, Mary was finally accepted. She was really happy and glad that she finally could become a part timer and work to support her brother. As she works, she learned many skills from the others and was able to make many friends. She worked diligently and earned many praises from her friends. She was hoping that someday she could fulfill her dreams of making the best chocolate for her family.
